About Us

The Online Auction

Potters for Palestine is a grass roots effort to bring members of the clay community together in support of Palestine. The 2025 Online Auction runs from Monday November 24 at 10am EST to Sunday, December 7 at 6pm EST.

We created this online auction to support funding for the following mutual aid groups on the ground in Gaza:

Many Lands Mutual Aid
Remain Rooted Direct Aid to Gaza
Gaza Soup Kitchen

These groups have been providing basic necessities to displaced Palestinians such as transportation, internet services, food, medicine, tents and baby formula.

We received over 350 works by nearly 350 ceramicists across the globe, ranging North America, Europe, Australia, and the UK. The diversity in participants is reflected not only in geography, but also in the type of work produced.

We encourage you to view our catalogue and visit the artists' Instagram pages linked to works on this site.

History

Potters for Palestine (P4P) is a grassroots organization founded in late 2023 by ceramic artists Melissa Weiss, Julie Moon, Haakon Lenzi, and Leena Ismail in response to the genocide in Gaza. In the early days of the crisis, many artists felt silenced, uncertain how to speak openly about Palestine, afraid of backlash and isolation. Determined to break the silence and create a space for solidarity, the founders came together to share knowledge and to collect and distribute resources to Gaza through collective action.

What began as a small circle quickly expanded into a growing network of potters and allies. Instagram became a vital organizing tool, helping the community connect, mobilize, and express public support for Palestinian freedom. The Potters for Palestine Instagram account was created in October 2025 with the intention of being used as a platform for sharing work, resources and community building. Our recent post, “Call to Action,” has received over 179,000 views, over 1,600 shares, over 270 reposts and over 1,0000 saves.
